Key Role held in the Colony;
- On Aug 27, 1851 nominated along with James Douglas and James Cooper by Governor Richard Blanshard to the Legislative Council of Vancouver Island.
All three took the oath of allegiance and their seats at its first session three days later. Tod served until his resignation in October 1858.
